Overtime Calculator
Estimate weekly pay with overtime: regular hours up to 40 at your normal rate and the extra hours at the overtime multiplier.
Example: 45 hours at $20/hour = 40 × $20 + 5 × $30 = $950.
The federal overtime rule
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, covered non-exempt employees must receive overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek at not less than one and one-half times their regular rate of pay (U.S. Department of Labor). A workweek is a fixed period of 168 hours, and hours cannot be averaged across two weeks.
Some states require daily overtime or double time in specific cases, and exempt employees are not covered. This calculator shows the general weekly rule only and is not legal advice.
